Some notes and Tips:

1. Clipping in the mirror modifier makes the real object and mirror object merge when the object and the mirror object are next to each other, but without clipping the object will pass through the mirror object. this image explain the differance:

When clipping is ON the object can't pass througt mirror object.

Without clipping the object will pass throught the mirror object.

2. Delete the inner faces to prevent the problem that shows on the left in the photo :

Deferance between deleting the inner faces and keeping it.
